Our Story
Thirty Years of Excellence in Bermuda
Warwick Secondary School stood as a cornerstone of education in Bermuda for three remarkable decades. Founded in 1967 at Warwick Camp, the school moved to its permanent home at 60 Middle Road, Warwick in 1968 — and from that moment, it became a defining institution in the life of the island.
"Welcome to Warwick Secondary School's official website. This site serves as a tribute to our school's rich history, celebrating a journey that began in September 1967 and concluded in June 1997."
For thirty years, Warwick Secondary shaped the minds and character of countless young Bermudians, preparing them for careers in the Arts, Hospitality, Trades, and Education. The school's influence extended far beyond its classrooms, touching families and communities across the island.
In June 1997, after three decades of service, Warwick Secondary School concluded its final chapter. Its campus was transformed into Spice Valley Middle School, carrying forward the spirit of learning that had defined the site for a generation. Though the school no longer exists in its original form, its legacy endures in every alumnus who walked its halls.
Chapter III
Our Principals
Five dedicated leaders guided Warwick Secondary School through its thirty years of service to Bermuda's youth — each leaving an indelible mark on the school's legacy.
Founding Principal
Thomas Neville Tatem
Thomas Neville Tatem began his distinguished career teaching mathematics at the school, before becoming deputy principal. In 1967, he became the founding principal of Warwick Secondary School — the school's very first leader, charged with establishing its culture, values, and academic standards from the ground up.
After retiring from teaching, Mr. Tatem continued to serve his community at Gospel Chapel as a devoted Sunday school teacher. His lifetime of service was formally recognized when he was honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2002.

Winton T. Williams
Winton T. Williams served as Vice Principal at Warwick Secondary School in 1968, the same year the school moved from Warwick Camp to its new building at 60 Middle Road. Two years later, when Thomas Neville Tatem retired, Mr. Williams became the school's second Principal.
He held the position of Principal until 1976, when he decided to take a sabbatical to further his studies in education, attending George Washington University in Washington D.C. Tragically, Mr. Williams was found deceased in his apartment at the age of 53.
